Alaska Character Design

During a trip to Alaska, I noticed many recurring cultural elements within the typography, wooden carvings, and signage. and decided to reimagine these elements through my perspective as a traveler. I take inspiration from Alaskan artists, interesting facts, and nature.

Throughout my trip I documented each experience through watercolors.

I even tried replicating typography I saw.

I designed my own signage based on research on typical bear activity.

After touring and learning the history of Alaska, I ended up basing the final character designs off traditional wood carvings and folklore. I represented it over multiple color schemes based on colors I saw most in Alaska.
